howdy! hi! hello there! very excited for this exchange & to see what you come up with <3 here are some ideas, as well as likes & dislikes & my general thoughts for this exchange. separated by tag. thank you you’re the best <3 (obv these are all suggestions!)

Epistolary Formats

• Epistolary Format: Books and Articles 

• nerdy things are greatly appreciated, be it fancy sciency articles or historical documents or literally anything you can think of. i promise i’ll love it 

• if you have a niche interest you can somehow fit into a in-universe paper i would love to see it in as much weirdly specific detail as you want to include 

• also love newspaper articles, especially for the snicketverse canons – extra points if they’re coded or terribly misleading 

• please feel free to explore the canon in any way, shape, or form that you find fun. i have ideas written out but i am just here for the ride, especially if you choose this format 

• Epistolary Format: Journals and Diaries 

• again i think coded messages & things that don’t mean what we think they do are super cool

• oh also, would really love to read about a character’s insight to something they experienced. especially if it’s funny or from the perspective of a character who wasn’t super involved & doesn’t understand the event in the way that we do 

• the magus. i am talking about the magus. 

• Epistolary Format: Letters/Emails/Audio or Video Messages 

  • i am a BIG sucker for letters, no matter what becomes of them or who reads them 

  • letters that influenced canon in a divergence au? HMM??? 

  • letters that were implied in canon but weren’t explicitly included 

  • letters that you have made up & make no sense within the canon (& that you make no attempt to explain) 

  • LETTERS 

  • i also like to see how the recipient is addrsssed & what the sign off is like. so like the “dear X” and “kind regards, X” of it all. i love when these are significant and have meaning to them or tell us something about the character or are just funny for some reason 

  • letters :) 

  • weird voice mails 

  • weirdly formal emails amuse me. like the trope where character a is all fancy and b is like “??? we have been best friends for a decade, why did you sign this kind regards” 

  • drunk voice mails are iconic 

  • private emails that are accidentally sent to a whole bunch of folks 

  • my bubbe once accidentally sent me a 10 minute voice message of her arguing with her husband about dinner and shit like that gets me laughing hysterically 

• Epistolary Format: Texts and Social Media 

  • deeply amused by wrong message things that spiral out of control 

  • “hey my friend gave me your number to troll you because they don’t like you, but you’re actually kinda cool” 

  • tinder 

  • messaging a cool social media account they admire and incidentally befriending them 

  • you can’t go wrong with this honest to G-d

All The Wrong Questions - Lemony Snicket

  • i’m thinking post-atwq interactions 

  • i like the idea that they kinda just Don’t Address What Happened 

  • the bellerophon bros deserve some normalcy and so does lemony 

  • i’d like to see them corresponding as librarians (vfd members even??) or as book appreciators, riffing off the tips thing 

  • maybe lemony tries to covertly ask them about how stain’d is doing without making it a big Thing

  • do they stay in contact after the prison stuff? 

  • idk im just curious about what you make of the two of them & i’d love to see it explored in an epistolary format

  • in general i love the idea of them reconnecting post-canon, especially as adults, or being forced to work together for some reason

  • he’s her only surviving family member so i like the idea of them being in contact 

  • even if grown up bea finds him and they start a connection
